Tenet – upcoming spy thriller written and directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Warner Bros has been postponed indefinitely as per Warner Bros statement to Variety. But Variety brings in new developments about the release of the film. As per Variety film might have an early release in Europe and Asia than the US because of the continued impact of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Tenet was originally planned to release on July 17th then postponed to July 31st and to August 12th before it’s removal from the Warner Bros release calendar. Now as per reports, makers are planning an August 26-28 release in Europe and depending on situations in Asian countries film might hit big screens on the same date as in Europe. As per the same report film might release on September 4th in the USA.
Speaking to ScreenDaily, the Spanish distributor said “Tenet will be on August 27, that’s for sure… I think [Warner Bros] will release in Asia and Europe and maybe the US and other countries later.”. Which adds weight to the ongoing speculations about the early release in Europe.
With theaters reopening in safe-zones in china, one of the biggest markets for Hollywood films and theaters in reaming zones are also gearing up for reopening in the coming days it is very likely that makers will opt for early release here.
Although the early release is expected in Asia we can’t expect this to include India, given the ongoing pandemic situation in the country. Theaters in India are yet to receive a nod from the government to reopen. As per reports theaters might get opened by end of September in the country. So we can expect Tenet to have a late September or an early October release in India.
